US-JAPAN CONSULTING Contract-Based Global Business Projects

Utilizing our wealth of hands-on experience in a broad range of global business, we carry out business projects on your behalf in the areas of international sales, market research, marketing, international logistics, production management, and customer complaint handling. We also provide services given short notice and on a tight schedule.

[ Emergency international logistics project ]

Client: a Japanese semiconductor manufacturer

An international logistics staffer in the client’s U.S. factory was to take a three-month leave of absence on short notice. His job relied on his bilingual English / Japanese skills and include: coordinating production schedules among factories in Japan, France and the United States; making international logistical arrangements; managing imports and exports to and from the United States; consulting with a lawyer over imports of goods into the United States; and managing business processes using SAP.

Before the staffer was scheduled to go on a leave, the client had only three days to ensure that everything would run normally and smoothly during his absence. They did not have time to train someone from scratch.

The first thing we did for the client was to separate the tasks that required knowledge of the company’s unique operation systems and those did not.

The handling of the former required knowledge of SAP and the client’s products. We gave top priority to creating a list of special projects and identifying key resourceful contacts to consult with during his absence.

Tasks that required common global business knowledge, including making international logistical arrangements, managing imports and exports, and consulting with a lawyer for import regulations, were handled using our hands-on expertise and taken on immediately.

We were able to complete the most critical part of the handover in three days by prioritizing tasks. While the staffer was on leave, production and international logistics at the factory ran smoothly. When he returned to work three months later, he took over the tasks again as if nothing had happened while he was away.

Testimonial by the above-mentioned semiconductor manufacturer

We went into a blind panic when we learned that we only had three days to do the handover. When US-JAPAN CONSULTING sent us a specialist who was English/Japanese bilingual and had extensive global business experiences, it was a tremendous help. He knew what to do and acted quickly. After creating a to-do list of critical tasks, he took the initiative in building a working relationship with a key person in each department in the factory. We were comfortable to let him do all the work. We really appreciate what he did for us.

Testimonial by a staffer in the international sales department in a Japanese trading company

When I was given a new assignment of handling sales in the Unites States, although I did not have much problem with English, I did not know where to start. So we asked US-JAPAN CONSULTING, on a contract basis, to help us acquire new customers.

US-JAPAN CONSULTING proposed that I should accompany one of their staffers on sales calls. They also set the goal to develop the sales techniques necessary in the U.S. market by watching the staffer deliver sales pitches to prospective customers.

I learned a lot from observing–with my own eyes and ears–telesales, sales meetings, sales presentations, and negotiations that the US-JAPAN CONSULTING’s staffer conducted. We had originally asked them to cultivate new customers, but they went out of their way to train me on sales techniques. Now I am confident I can be a good salesperson in the United States. Currently, I am talking to a number of prospective customers. If there is another project for which I could use any help of US-JAPAN CONSULTING, I will definitely go with them.
